“After thirty years in the construction business, I found I still had the desire to build something. My inspiration came from prehistoric and contemporary pottery and the elegant forms and intricate designs presented me with the challenge I needed.”

Ray Allen grew up on a small farm in Tennessee and spent three decades working as a carpenter in the construction industry. Retiring to Yuma, Arizona he began working on the lathe, eventually mastering techniques for creating segmented vessel forms.
