This collection of poems by Mira Advani is a compilation of her moments and moods in search for the sublime. She has been scribbling poems and verses since her childhood. As part of her journal Advani started writing poetry when she first arrived in Los Angeles in 1967. Her intense emotions through marriage, motherhood and later on her single life would be penned down in poems usually late at night; therefore the title "midnite".

These poems were not intended for publication as the writer found her midnite moments to be highly personal. Advani finally made a decision to go to print when she met the legendary American ceramicist Beatrice wood in 1990. The two sari-clad women took to each other immediately. They shared more than their fascination for saris and jewelry - they shared an intense passion for life and the search for true love. Wood, then 98, was confident that her true love was still around the corner. With a twinkle in her eyes, she would alert Advani: "Don't bring a handsome man here, he may fall in love with me and leave you!"

Both passionate women explore the absurdities of love and life, and the relationship between man and woman - Wood through her whimsical ceramics and Advani through her poetic words. Wood who remarks, "I never loved the men I married and never married the men I loved," could easily relate to Advani's trials and traumas of love. The potter, more than twice the poet's age, feels and acts like her contemporary. The two indulge in their fantasies as they wait for their true love. just around the corner.
