In this workshop, participants will explore the the roots of their own creative process. Fantasy and surrealism are linked inextricably with our imagination, but creativity has sources filtering into every part of our workshops as well. The problem solving we implement on joinery or construction, the way we use tools and implement techniques, and of course the designs - both practical and otherworldly - all are informed by our creative thinking. We will be working with subjects, such as dragons or masks, that have no definitive look. With this is gives us no exact target to hit and instead we can be surprised by the journey and where our minds may take us.

Conventional craftsmanship in woodworking may be used, but don't plan to be fussing over fit and finish. A safe, yet unorthodox, approach to fine woodworking principles will be utilized to focus on creation and expressiveness. Participants will shape masks, dragons, or whatever your muse points you to, out of wood with Weidman's guidance. Participants are invited to bring found objects in line with personal tastes or interests to incorporate. Vintage objects of unknown origin, cut up rubber tires, metal shards... you like it, bring it, and Weidman will assist you in figuring out how to make it work! Tools of creation to expect available: pyrography, multi-axis turning, carving chainsaws, all manner of angle grinders, and enough epoxy to make it all work.
